Hey everyone — just leaving this one here real quick.

I don't normally participate in Game Jams. As a father, it's hard to dedicate a solid block of time exclusively to game development. Instead of joining formally, I decided to participate from the sidelines.

I'm glad I took that approach, because life ended up lifing pretty hard, and I didn’t manage to finish everything I had planned. But in the spirit of this site becoming my personal junk drawer on the internet, I figured: why not release what I did finish?

So here it is.

A TBRPG

A TBRPG stands for A Turn-Based RPG (I know, incredibly original name).

The game takes inspiration from classics like Shining Force, Fire Emblem, and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Current features include:

  • Tactical grid-based combat
  • Capture points across the battlefield
  • Randomized map floors
  • A roster system where you build your own team

You can play it here:

If I Ever Expanded It

I don’t currently have plans to expand this project unless people end up really enjoying it — but if I did, here are some directions I’d explore:

  • Hero leveling system
  • Randomized enemy loadouts
  • Enemy level scaling
  • Multiple battlefield layouts
  • Hero synergy mechanics
  • Map builder & pre-battle terrain drafting
  • Single-player campaign
  • Windows and Linux downloadable builds

For now, this is just a small experimental slice of an idea.

If you give it a try, I hope you have fun with it.
